Bowhunter TV
Mike Carney As Senior Vice President, Group Publisher, Hunting and Shooting for InterMedia Outdoors (IMO), Mike Carney isn’t the sort of corporate executive who is disconnected from the inner workings of his sphere of influence. His knowledge of the world of firearms is extensive and rooted in both a lifetime of hunting and shooting and, of course, his current oversight of America’s largest and best-known group of hunting/shooting print, digital, and TV brands (magazine category leaders like Guns & Ammo, Shotgun News, Petersen’s Hunting, North American Whitetail, and Wildfowl, not to mention Bowhunter Magazine and Petersen’s Bowhunting). But Mike’s first love is bowhunting. Not only is he an avid bowhunter, but he has chosen to do it the hard way as a traditional archer, hunting with both recurve and longbow. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mike cut his bowhunting teeth on burly Buckeye-State whitetails, and he has taken numerous Pope-and-Young-class whitetails across the Midwest. This accomplished stickbow shooter has also matched wits with all sorts of North American game, from antelope and mule deer, to elk and moose, to black bears, wild turkeys and flying Asian carp, just to name a few…and at this writing he’s enjoying the plains game of South Africa. Mike currently keeps watch over big whitetail bucks from his home outside Peoria, Illinois, where he lives with his wife Heidi and his daughter Lauren. Curt Wells In a bowhunting career spanning more than three decades, across 21 states, 9 Canadian provinces/territories and 5 countries, Bowhunter Magazine Editor Curt Wells has pursued 21 species of game with a bow. His arrows have found 18 of those species including 13 elk, countless whitetails and numerous mule deer, antelope, caribou and black bears, as well as African plains game and red stag in New Zealand. Curt’s writing credits include regular columns and feature articles in various local, regional and national publications. He sold his first magazine article to Bowhunter Magazine in 1985, and that relationship grew until he was named equipment editor in 2003. When Bowhunter TV came along in 2005, Curt began hunting on camera and writing scripts for the "Tech Talk" segment, and in 2009 he was named co-host of the show. That same year he published his first book The Modern Bowhunter — Geared Up! and he also served as editor of the Pope and Young Club’s Bowhunting Records of North American Whitetail Deer, Third Edition. Last year, Curt’s hard work was rewarded when he became only the third editor of Bowhunter Magazine in its 40 years of existence. Curt lives in Wahpeton, North Dakota with Patti, his wife of 37 years. He has two sons, Jason and Jared, and three grandsons.
